Business and industry leaders from across the country have told us that a key trend in today’s workforce is employees’ desire to match their work with their personal values—either by working for companies that are socially conscious, or starting their own companies to create a positive social impact. Join Scott Kolums, the founder of Canopy (a nonprofit organization that guides Kentucky for-profit businesses towards incorporating a social or environmental mission into their business model)to give you the low-down on this innovative way of working. Scott, who also owns FMS pbc, a certified Benefit Corporation and registered Public Benefit Corporation, will tell us more about this concept; how they’re structured, and how their models differ from traditional businesses. He will also share insights based on success and failures he has seen (and experienced) in the world of socially conscious business ventures.

Don’t miss this important presentation that will provide you with practical knowledge as you help your students understand this important movement towards socially conscious, impact driven business, and provide a foundation for pursuing their own dreams in line with their values.
